What is Our Job as a Parent?

Our job as parents is to teach the child how to maneuver through our society. Hopefully this will result in a life that is full of prosperity and joy.

It is our job to WATCH as our children grow to find out who THEY are (not what WE would have them be). When they show signs of passion for something, it is our responsibility to provide what we can to support and encourage that passion. This does not mean that we break the bank, only that we try and find avenues for their passion to flourish.

We also need to understand that our children’s passions WILL CHANGE! One month they will be into art, the next it will be history. It is our job to watch the patterns. When we see that there is a passion they are exploring on their own and doing research to find out more, that is a sign that this is more than a passing fancy. PLEASE NOTE: THIS TOO WILL CHANGE! It may fall to the wayside or just go into a holding pattern as another passion rises to the top. Passions will ebb and flow, merge and separate. This is the process of finding their true path, what they were meant to do and give to this world/society. Flow with it.

Allowing the process of exploration may take you to some fantastic places! Places you would NEVER have explored on your own. See the world through new eyes, find new and exciting things, delve deeper into those things you know and love as your child learns more. It doesn’t matter how much money they make or the prestige of their job/career. Only that they are happy and live a meaningful life.
